Heavyweight Grower, Lee Roof from Oak Harbor!

At 1548 pounds of pumpkin, Lee squashed the record held by local growers.

2019 broke two records for Christianson’s Nursery: the region’s heaviest ‘Atlantic’ giant pumpkin (north of Puyallup, WA), and record-breaking attendance thanks to you!

A-One Day Only Event

Christianson’s Nursery is an official weigh-off site for the Giant Pumpkin Commonwealth (GPC), an international organization, who are sanctioned to submit giant pumpkin world records! Sponsored by the Pacific Northwest Giant Pumpkin Growers with Coastal Farm & Ranch, Skagit Valley Food Co-op, and Mount Vernon Tractor Supply, and drawings for floral seed baskets provided by Floret Flower Farm.  The day’s events begin early with entrants registering for the official Weigh-Off.  Last year’s pumpkin weighed in at over 1300 pounds! Compete for a cash prize for the biggest pumpkin and the Howard Dill Award for prettiest pumpkin! Be sure to bring your exhibition veggies and sunflowers.

The Giant Pumpkin Commonwealth, a world-wide organization designated to record world records, stated:

“There were 107 sites for weigh-offs around the world in 2017.

Second place most improved site with 67% from 2016 was Christianson’s Nursery Weigh-off in Mount Vernon, Washington.”

 

Schedule of Events

9 a.m. – 1 p.m.  Entries for pumpkin weigh-in accepted.  Watch the parade of deliveries!

9 a.m. – 4 p.m. New family fun!  An a-maze-ing hay maze with Mount Vernon’s Camp Korey

10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Chelle Beautiful Face Painting ($5, cash only) and family carnival games!

11 a.m. – noon  “Bats Incredible” class in the Schoolhouse with Bat Lady, Kathleen Bander

11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Skagit’s own Random Acts of FoodYukon Jitter Coffee TruckThe Scone LadyNW Kettle Corn Company, and Absolutely Nuts!

11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Anacortes Brewery Beer Garden hosted by La Conner Library Foundation

Noon – 3 p.m.    Lang’s Pony Rides!  ($5, cash only)

1 – 4 p.m.           Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off
