Harvest veggies year round!
Now that days are getting shorter again, it is time to prep and plant your veggies for fall, winter, and overwintering harvest. In our mild climate (even with a winter like last year!) if you plant in August, you can enjoy your own homegrown veggies in October through early next spring.
We have a fresh new selection of beautiful starts from @sunseedfarm ($3.98 per pack) and @alice_loghouse ($6.98 per jumbo pack) to get your fall and winter garden rolling.
We love the Maritime Northwest Garden Guide from Tilth Alliance ($18.95) for an excellent month-by-month guide, especially for our growing region. In addition, our remaining seeds are on sale at 40% off (from @uprising.seeds , @botanical_interests, @reneesgardenseeds, @territorialseedcompany, and @humeseeds).
Throughout August, you can direct sow (or transplant starts) for crops like beets, spinach, swiss chard, carrots, cilantro, broccoli, cauliflower, celery, cabbage, collards, kales, radishes, onions, scallions, endive, escarole, lettuce, mustards, bok choi, kohlrabi and radicchio for harvest October and November, with some even overwintering for harvest through next March!
